Dr. Porras was awarded his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarre in 1991. He completed his MIR residency programme in Reina Sofía University Hospital, Cordoba, where he specialised in Cardiovascular Surgery, between 1993 and 1997. Specialist in the Area of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital in Malaga since 1998, he has also been a surgeon in the Heart Area of Xanit International Hospital since 2008. Surgeon of the Marfan Unit and the Valve repair Unit of Virgen de la Victoria and Xanit Internacional Hospital.

Member of the Board of Directors of the Sociedad Andaluza de Cirugía Cardiovascular (Andalusian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery). Member of the Working Group for Arrhythmia Surgery of the Sociedad Española de Cirugía Cardiovascular (Spanish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery). Member of the Working Group for Aorta Surgery of the Sociedad Española de Cirugía Cardiovascular. Dr. Porras has recently carried out outstanding work in the area of surgical repair of mitral and aortic valves and in thoracic aorta surgery.
