Doctor Cabrera holds a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Malaga and is a Specialist in Cardiology. He lectures in Anatomy at the University of Malaga. He is an active member of both the Sociedad Española de Cardiología and the European Society of Cardiology. He has worked in the Heart Area of Xanit International Hospital since 2009 and in the Heart Area of the Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital since 1997, where he also teaches and is Tutor for Medical Intern Residents (MIR) of the Cardiology Service and Clinical Tutor at the Department of Medicine. He is Coordinator of the Marfan Units at Xanit International and Malaga University Hospital.

Of special note in the field of research is his role as Associate Editor of Cardiocore, the cardiovascular disease publication and reviewer for several medical journals (Revista Española de Cardiología, European Journal of Echocardiography, among others). He has also authored many articles and frequently presents papers at international conferences in the field of Cardiology, fundamentally in the areas of Echocardiography and valvular heart disease.
